Php 2,000 Monthly Pension for PWDs Under Senate Bill No. 1506

Everyone was affected because of the pandemic that is spreading all over the world, especially the PWDs who were not able to make a living on their own. That is why Senator Lito Lapid file a Senate Bill hoping to grant monthly pension for PWDs.

As per Senator Lito Lapid, “During times of a deep crisis and poverty that the public is experiencing, let’s not forget that our brothers with disabilities have it harder. They need the help of the government and they have the right to receive aid so they can afford to buy what they need,”

Monthly Pension for PWDs is amounting to Php 2,000. PWDs who don’t have the strength to work, sickly, and who have no pension or permanent source of income, or regular support from their relatives to meet their basic needs.

However, before they get the pension they must be verified and certified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA). A certified PWD identification card is a must to qualify as a beneficiary under the proposed bill.

Our government allocated an initial amount of Php 2 Billion for the first year distribution of the PWDs pension. In addition, the budget for this bill must be yearly for a continuous distribution of pension.

This senate bill aims to help PWDs who are incapable of supporting themselves. So if a person was found to be fraudulently enrolling in the program will pay a fine. It will be ranging from Php 25,000 to Php 50,000 for the first violation. While Php 50,000 but not exceeding Php 100,000 for subsequent violations.
