Is it an Administrative Correction or Judicial Correction?

Administrative Correction is the type of correction that doesn’t need to go through a court proceeding for the correction to take place. You can file directly to the local civil registrar where the birth was reported.

  • Wrong Name, spelling, gender

Wrong Gender Requirements:

-NBI Clearance

-Certificate of Employment or Affidavit of Non-Employment

-Baptismal Certificate
-Marriage Certificate (for married)

Judicial Correction

The requirements needed for Judicial Correction will depend on the correction you’re requesting and it will be subjected to evaluation once you file your case with the Regional Trial Court.

How Much is the Fee?

  • For change name, gender, birth date, and birth year
    -Filing Fee Php 3,000
    -Publication Fee Php 1,200 up to Php 2,500
    -Notarization Fee and other fees
  • Clerical Error
    -Filing Fee Php 1,000
    -Notarization Fee and other fees Php 2,000
  • Supplemental Report
    -Filing Fee Php 1,000 or less
  • Judicial Correction fee
    The court will depend on how complicated your issue is. Fees will include the filing fee, notarization fee, postage fees, etc.

How is the Process?

  • Prepare all the required documents ahead of time
  •  Proceed to the local civil registrar where your birth was reported
  • Have your case evaluated
  • Submit the notarized copy along with the rest of the requirements
  • Registrar will then check and verify all your documents
  • Once verified, proceed to the payment section and pay for the fee
  • After paying, secure the receipt
  • Return to the office on the date indicated on the receipt to claim your approved petition
  • Once you claimed the petition, send it to the Office of the Civil Registrar General in Manila
  • Once approved, you will be informed by the local civil registrar that your Certificate of Finality is ready
  • After other processes, your new birth certificate from PSA will be ready
  • Claim it

How long will it take?

Name Change- 4 months up to 7 months
Gender Change- 4 months up to 7 months
Birthdate or Birth Year Change- 4 months up to 7 months
Any Clerical Error – 2 months up to 5 months
Judicial Correction – 1 year or more

NOTE:
-Personal Appearance is a must.
-Processing time will depend on what type of correction is involved.
