26,000 to Hire Nurses by DOH for Plantilla Positions with P33,000 Salary

26,000 nurses are needed by Department of Health for plantilla positions.

They will be needing nurses for the implementation of the Universal Health Care according to DOH undersecretary Roger Tong-an during the Philippine Nurses Association or PNA Nursing Leadership Institute training.

We will have 26,000 nurses who will be in a plantilla position as an appointment next month for this universal health care.

As much as P7.4 billion will be added in the budget of the UHC’ so that our nurses in the grassroots will not be unemployed again, so pinabalik namin sila.

There will be appointment of nurses who will get very good salary package… the salary of our nurses next month will be P33,787.

So a task of this magnitude requires renewed trust and coordinated efforts among our health stakeholders. We can start the reforms in building a health care system that is strong and resilient.

DOH Undersecretary Roger Tong-an

The Budget Department cut down by P8 billion on the DOH’s Human Resource for Health Deployment Program or HRHDP that made DOH Secretary Francisco Duque last year shared his fears that as many as 15,012 health workers may lose their jobs.

The DOH may only be given a budget of P71 billion this year from its 2018 budget of P107.3 billions for 2019. But, Senate restored the P20 billion to the DOH’s budget. Including the P4.797 billion of the P7 billion requirement for HRHDP.

Goverment nurses HRHDP shall be given permanent and contractual positions as promised by Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno.

The massive hiring for health workers to help meet the better ratio of health workers to patients, as well as provide a better functioning health service delivery network nationwide is also confirmed by BOH Undersecretaty for health regulations Dr. Eric Domingo.
