For the first quarter of 2019, a total of 122,571 working women have benefited from the expanded Maternity Leave Law according to Social Security System.
122,571 employed women received a longer recuperation time after giving birth and a longer time to care for their newborns following the implementation of the 105-day expanded maternity leave law.

Previously, employed women were entitled to 60 days of paid leave for normal delivery and 78 days for cesarean delivery.
SSS disbursed 2.67 billion pesos in maternity benefits for the first four months of the year. which is 15.09 higher than the 2.32 billion disbursed for the same period last year.
By January next year, the maximum maternity financial assistance to new mothers will go up to P70,000 from the current P32,000.
