On August 25, 2018, RA 11055 also known as “An Act Establishing the Philippine Identification System (National ID) took effect according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
On August 6, 2018, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte signed The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
About the Law
This seeks to harmonize, integrate and interconnect the countless and redundant government IDs by establishing a single national identification system thus, the Philippine Identification System.
Contents of the Phil-ID Information
- PhilSys number
- Full name
- Facial Image
- Sex
- Date of Birth
- Blood type
- Address
The implementation of the law is targeted to be completed in September.
Other information about the card
The ID will be housing a smart chip that has unique information associated to a person like biometrics, iris scan, facial image reception code and many other interesting features.
Government-issued identification number like the following will be stored in the ID:
- SSS
- Pag-ibig
- PhilHealth
- Passport Number
- Voter’s Registration
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- Driver’s license number
