Social Security System will be implementing a new plan which is the SSS Number Coding strategy. It aims to modify service procedures when handling transactions in selected branches nationwide.
As per Aurora C. Ignacio, the SSS president and chief executive,
“The new procedures aim to regulate the number of people transacting in SSS branches amid the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.”
Recently, Ignacio signed SSS Circular No. 2020-017 that limits the walk-in transaction in some of the SSS branches nationwide. In addition, the weekly schedule where the member and employers (ERs) can do their transaction was also advised under the circular.
In addition, the schedule that will be given will be based on the last digit of the SS or ER ID numbers and this will be implemented in some branches of SSS around NCR.
Here are the list of branches that will be included in the Circular No. 2020-017:
- Baguio
- Dagupan
- Bacoor
- Biñan
- Cebu
- Lapu-Lapu
- Bacolod
- Iloilo
- Cagayan De Oro
- Davao
Types of transactions that will be taken care of:
- Payment of contributions
- Payment of loans
- Compliance to the SS Number Application (SSS Web)
- UMID Card Pick up
- Original Documents presentation to support application
- Other justifiable reason
Prescribed Schedule:
- MONDAY for SS or ER ID number ending in 1 or 2
- TUESDAY for those ending in 3 or 4
- WEDNESDAY for those ending in 5 or 6
- THURSDAY for those ending in 7 or 8
- FRIDAY for those ending in 9 or 0
To sum up, this new SSS Number Coding procedure aims to limit their members and employers risk of exposure to COVID-19.
In addition, they also encourage their members to use SSS digital platforms as they expanded their online services.
NOTE:
-For funeral and death claims, the SS number of the deceased will be the basis for the number coding schedule
-If your transaction day falls under a declared holiday, the member may transact the following day
-If the SSS system breaks down, they will set a new appointment for those who are waiting in line, but if they are willing to wait until the system operates again they can do so.
